Tourism Undergraduate Scholarship

WHAT IS THE TOURISM UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP?

Borneo Eco Tours (BET), a leading tour operator in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo is offering Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) undergraduates a chance to kick-start your career in the tourism industry.

Our Tourism Undergraduate Scholarship provides a one-off financial support for native Sabahan students in their second or final year, studying Bachelor Degree in Tourism field with minimum CGPA of 3.5 and above.

Upon completion of studies and the success of your application, a grant of RM3000 will be granted to the beneficiary where he/she commences an internship at BET for 3 months. The beneficiary then may be absorbed as full time employee, subject to their performance and vacancy.

We are constantly on the lookout for young talents who we believe can contribute to the continuous success of the organization with their fresh outlook, ideas and proactiveness.

BET also values constant improvements and encourages employees to breakout of their comfort-zones, which is why we often have employee development programs for our staff that will not only help them to develop career wise, but also encourage their personal growth.

Here at BET, we don’t only work hard, but play hard as well. There is a balance between work and fun here as we sometimes have activities during working hours as well as after to get together with colleagues to unwind and have fun!

Besides that, BET has also won numerous awards and the most recent awards we have achieved are the “2015 1st Place Honoree of ETC (Educational Travel Community) Responsible Tourism Showcase” and “2014 Wild Asia Responsible Awards - Best in Community Engagement and Development”.

WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA?

  1. Undergraduates from our University partner, UMS pursuing Bachelor Degree in Tourism field.
  2. Must be a native Sabahan
  3. Currently in Second or Final year
  4. Minimum CGPA 3.5
  5. Active in University activities including volunteerism.
  6. Good command in English, both verbal and written communication. Ability to speak in other languages is an added advantage.
  7. Good recommendation from lecturer.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS?

  1. Submit your application
  2. BET representative will meet up with students for interview session(s).
  3. Selected students will be announced through university representative.
